Joseph Ngarira
Forest Officer

Joseph is the Forest Officer for Mount Kenya Trust. He joined the Trust in October 2014. He oversees all forestry projects and community based forest groups. He helps with tree nursery management and seedling care and also monitors the planted seedling on the graded sites in Mt.Kenya forest. His forestry career started in 1997 when he started working with UNDP for a group called Burguret Youth for Conservation. Since then, he worked as a Community Resource Officer with Action Aid International, Kenya. He also established Gathioro Community Forest Association through which the KFS and the government carried out a PELIS (Plantation Establishment Livelihood Improvement Scheme) pilot project. Joseph has a certificate in Community Organization and Development from Kiboso College Kisumu, and a certificate in Seed Handling and Harvesting from Kenya Forest Research Institute.
