10to4 Mountain Bike Challenge
10to4 Mountain Bike Challenge
One of the best-kept secrets on Africa’s adventure tourism calendar is the Mt Kenya mountain bike and horse riding event, with courses for all abilities. Raising money for Mount Kenya Trust, riders start at an altitude of 10,000ft and drop through alpine moorlands, forests, and game-filled plains to end on a private wildlife conservancy at 4,000ft.
Established in 2002, the 10to4 raises funds for the conservation projects of the Mount Kenya, including the reforestation of more than two million trees of Mount Kenya’s National Reserve, four anti ranger poaching teams, community health projects for over 40,000 people, one of Kenya’s first elephant corridors, human-wildlife mitigation and habitat protection
Raises awareness of the mountain and its surrounding areas and the challenges faced. Through the expansion of the event the hope is that by enabling more people to enjoy the magnificent landscapes and protected areas that the 10to4 covers, the greater chance we have of protecting them.
